Blogging has become a regular part of everyday online life. Now the World Wide Web is filled with information about almost everything. No matter what type of business you run, you will definitely want to jump on the blogging bandwagon and share your own information with others.
When you first sit down to write a blog, you might ask yourself what types of information people will want to read. Since you are likely targeting a specific market, the answer will lie within the realm of what it is that you do; your specialty so-to-speak.
The first rule of thumb is to write about what you know. Readers will tune in to your information and will make an assessment in three seconds or less about whether or not it is worth reading. If it appears to others you have written fluff, they will deem it unusable and probably go onto the next source of information. If, on the other hand, you write a piece that is informative, you can immediately grab their attention and keep them reading.
The objective to a blog is to inform people, in this case potential customers, about a product or service, or to pass along useful information or tips that others may want or need. Then end result, however, is to promote your company, so you will want to include a link to your own website and any other relevant sites your customers might like to visit. The key to doing this successfully is to attach the link to a key word or phrase. You want to do this early in the game because if they don’t like what they are reading, they’ll probably never see the link.
For example, if you run a carpet cleaning business, you might write a blog about the benefits of having your carpet cleaned say twice a year. Your keyword phrase could be carpet cleaning and you could attach the direct link to your website to those words. You will also want to choose at least one more keyword phrase like carpet cleaners where you can also attach your link.
When you write with your audience in mind, you will be able to provide them with information they can use. It will also show you know your profession and are ready to serve your customers.
